Kawasaki Moves Towards Full Automation with Galvatek Designs

Galvatek has signed a substancial contract with Kawasaki Trading Co. Ltd regarding a delivery of Fully Automatic Chemical Aeroengine Cleaning Line and Etching Plant. The new plant will be installed at Kawasaki Heavy Industries Factories, near Kobe city and up and running for full production use by the end of year 2012.

Kawasaki Trading Co. Ltd operates in an impressive range of technological sectors and has a personnel of around 33 000 world wide. This forward looking trading firm has also an extensive experience as an aeroplane engine subcontractor. Many of the world’s largest aeroengine manufactures use parts made by Kawasaki.

Demanding Field of Expertise

The production of aeroengines as well as the equipment and technology used have to stand up to strict set of requirements and standards. The suppliers themselves are expected to show strong experience and know-how in both advanced technology and project management.

Galvatek’s modern, world-wide references in the aviation industry, especially with the aeroengine motorparts handling, gave Galvatek the decisive advantage over the other prestigious international tenders. The Automatic Chemical Cleaning Line fitted for All Nippon Airways, in Tokio 2008, also assured Kawasaki of Galvatek’s ability and skill to successfully deliver similar technology into Japan.

In addition to the many technological solutions Galvatek has already developed for the aviation industry, the company is continually applying the latest robotics to the processes. In the Kawasaki plant, the previously manual sections of the processes – and often inconvenient interuptive sections of the automatic processes – have been replaced with advanced robotics. Galvatek’s plant design for Kawasaki is first of its kind where the whole process involving parts handling is fully automated. The whole process and the equipment are controlled by unique control system, GalCont,  developed also by Galvatek.
